We’re excited to share that the Amberfield tennis courts have been recently resurfaced and repainted—complete with new pickleball lines. This upgrade comes directly in response to resident requests and is part of our continued commitment to making the community a great place to live and play.
Why Pickleball?
Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States—and for good reason. It’s:
Easy to learn and play – The rules are simple, and beginners can pick it up in minutes.
Economical – All you need is a paddle, a ball, and a good pair of sneakers.
Low impact – The smaller court size and underhand serve make it easier on the joints than many other racquet sports.
Fun for all ages – Kids, adults, and seniors alike enjoy the game, making it a great community sport.
With its mix of social interaction, light exercise, and quick games, it’s no surprise pickleball is becoming a favorite across the country.
THE BASICS OF HOW TO PLAY
Here are a few simple rules to get you started:
Games are usually played to 11 points, and you must win by 2.
The serve is underhand and must land diagonally across the court.
Only the serving team can score points.
After the serve, both teams must let the ball bounce once before hitting it (the “two-bounce rule”).
There’s a non-volley area, often called the “kitchen”, near the net where players cannot hit the ball out of the air.
Come Play!
We hope residents will enjoy the refreshed courts and take advantage of the opportunity to try something new. Whether you’re a longtime tennis player or just curious about pickleball, the Amberfield courts are ready for you.
